Here you go
Perfect, that's how it should be.

Black Wolves should be aspiring for their first title.

OmG, talk about whether the league can play again before thinking about expansion.

Talking about that for a half-year has been long enough.

Would be nice to get some clarity. So the two banners represented three titles each, they only recognized two of the six, or what?

San Diego Seals Forum / Who's next in California?
« on: October 04, 2020, 05:14:20 pm »
Two seasons ago, the San Diego Seals faced off as California's first team since the San Jose Stealth last played in 2009 before moving to Washington State.

On and off the field, the franchise has done great things.

With the league recently reentering some of the country's largest TV markets like New York and Philadelphia, I'm sure another Golden State team could be on the horizon.

Who do you think that is?

Panther City Lacrosse (Fort Worth) Forum / Future regional rival

I know this team is still over a year from its initial faceoff, but if another team in the area were to come in, where do you think it'd be?

Some ideas:

*Oklahoma City - one-team (Big 5) city with an arena that hosts the Thunder, ownership group partly associated with the Fort Worth team
*Houston - fourth largest city, fifth largest US metro, biggest Texas lacrosse community aside from Dallas
*Austin - only one Big 5 (MLS) team, UT arena holds over 16k for basketball and has hosted arena football
*San Antonio - seventh largest US city, only one Big 5 team (which has passionate fanbase)
*Tulsa - second largest city in Oklahoma, pro-appropriate arena, best lacrosse community in the state
*New Orleans - Drew Brees did say lacrosse was his favorite sport to watch

IMHO, the Deep South is probably not included in the league's immediate expansion plans, or at least the next six teams, unless Houston has an interested ownership group. I do think the passionate Thunder fanbase in OKC could get behind a team there, too, though.

We are about a month-and-a-half (November 17) from Fort Worth's brand introduction event at Dickies Arena, where the team's name, logo, and colors will be revealed.

What are we thinking NLL fam? Panthers? Stampede? Herd? Another wild card?

If there hasn't been another trademark found at this point, I think one of those three will probably be it. I'm going Panthers. Or at least I'd prefer Panthers.

I imagine this may be a hot debate, but with Halifax claiming the original Rochester Knighthawks' championships, well, I think you know where I'm headed...

Who claims the six championships by the Philadelphia Wings in 1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1998, and 2001?

I understand the 1987-2014 Wings iteration officially relocated to New England, but aside from a few trash talking tweets from the Black Wolves, it's hard to find confirmation that the Black Wolves own six championships. I've never seen the league acknowledge the Black Wolves "searching to claim their seventh title".

Wikipedia makes it no easier by creating a separate article for each team stint. All three Wings iterations have their separate articles. Another example: while the Mammoth have also been in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Washington, all four team identities have their own articles. Do the Mammoth own the Thunder, CrosseFire, and Power's records, too?

To avoid the previous post being too long, that expansion plan could put a 20-team NLL at:

Western Conference
Northwest
Calgary
Edmonton
Saskatchewan
Seattle
Vancouver

Southwest
Colorado
Fort Worth
Las Vegas
San Diego
Utah

Eastern Conference
Atlantic
Georgia
New England
New York
Philadelphia
Washington

North
Buffalo
Halifax
Montreal
Rochester
Toronto

NLL News and Rumors / Expansion Phase III
« on: October 04, 2020, 04:26:59 pm »
Nicky S. talked about expanding in "phases" with San Diego, Philadelphia, Halifax, and New York coming in as the first round, getting the league back to 13 teams for the first time since 2007.

The next "phase" presumably will see the league get to a nice number of 16, hopefully two conferences with two divisions. Fort Worth became #14, I think Vegas is a safe pick for #15, and let's just say Edmonton comes in #16 to give us four geographically pleasant divisions (while ignoring the fact Georgia on its own island).

I started a topic on the temporary new forum about where Team 16 would be.

This time, who are/should be Teams 17-20 looking ahead to Phase III? This is assuming the gap between Teams 16 and 17 is longer than Teams 13 and 14.

I'll go:
#17 Seattle - great sports city and by this time, the Kraken will have established themselves
#18 Washington - years after the AFL's demise, Ted Leonsis buys a team in a lacrosse hotbed to expand his team portfolio
#19 Salt Lake City - Utah's growing lacrosse community leads charge to bring the state's first pro team
#20 Montreal - Nicky S. will never forget about Canada

Play in the summer.
You'd think more arena dates would be open, although it'd cross over with MLL/PLL. However, I'm sure if the NLL chose that course of action the other leagues would adjust accordingly.

One aspect of it too is that while some teams like the Swarm don't have much arena competition, many others are last priorities to the NBA, NHL, concerts, etc. While the schedule normally releases around September, we won't know anything for sure until the NBA and NHL knows what they're doing.
